This Riserva, made with 100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a native Friulian grape, has developed complexity and depth through long aging. It is a wine of profoundness and elegance, characteristic of aged wines.
Concentrated fruit aromas of blackberry, black plum, dried cherry, and dried fig are layered with nuances of violet, herbs, and spices. Further aging has brought forth complex aromas of vanilla, brioche, and mushroom, which evolve beautifully in the glass.
While possessing a firm structure, the tannins have softened and integrated smoothly through prolonged aging, evolving into an elegant mouthfeel. This superior cuvée is marked by its deep garnet color and long-lasting finish.
It pairs exceptionally well with rich, savory dishes such as mushroom risotto and porcini pasta.
It also creates a wonderful marriage with roast beef, aged meats, and game dishes. The complex aromas derived from aging further enhance the flavors of the food.
Carefully selected grapes are harvested by hand and re-sorted at the winery. Natural fermentation is carried out using only indigenous yeasts.
Maceration takes place in French oak barrels, followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete egg-shaped tanks. It is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, allowing the fruitiness and barrel-derived complexity to beautifully integrate.
Released after a sufficient period of aging in the bottle, the wine offers both youthful vigor and the mellowness of maturity.
