Tasting Notes

This 100% Sangiovese red wine is crafted from grapes cultivated in the cool, high-altitude vineyards of Mount Amiata in Tuscany. Produced using biodynamic farming methods, this wine truly expresses the unique character of its terroir.

It offers aromas of red fruits, reminiscent of pomegranate and cranberry, intertwined with elegant floral notes of rose and violet. Further complexity comes from natural nuances evoking herbs and wild grasses, creating a multifaceted and profound bouquet. The wine strikes a harmonious balance between fresh fruit flavors and delicate tannins, resulting in an elegant and easy-drinking style.

Pairing

This wine pairs excellently with a cheese platter, BBQ meats, and tomato-based stews. It also beautifully complements dishes featuring balsamic sauce and grilled vegetables.

Winemaking

The hand-picked grapes are transferred whole to tanks for 15 days of carbonic maceration. This traditional method extracts the pure aromas and fresh fruit flavors of the grapes.

After pressing, the wine is fermented separately from the skins. It then undergoes settling and racking before aging in concrete tanks. By avoiding oak barrels, the wine expresses its inherent fruit characteristics and the unique qualities of its terroir with honest clarity.

About the Winery

BAKKANALI is a winery located in Mount Amiata, Tuscany, founded by Ugo Fabbri and Sebastian Naceri.

The unique characteristics of this region are shaped by its high altitude, snow, significant diurnal temperature variations, ancient geology, and calcium-rich sedimentary soils. Furthermore, the complex environment, which transitions to flysch and volcanic sandy soils at higher elevations, contributes to the distinctive terroir.

The two winemakers approach their craft with the passion of explorers discovering new lands, listening intently to the voice of the terroir. They adhere to the principles of biodynamic farming, striving to produce wines that best express the characteristics of the land and the seasons.
