This extremely rare Trebbiano Spoletino comes from just 60 pre-phylloxera ancient vines, over 128 years old. With an annual production of only 440 bottles, it is a truly special wine from Umbria.
The nose offers ripe fruit aromas, primarily white peach and pineapple, with subtle hints of mango. Layers of saffron, acacia honey, sweet violet, and mint create a complex and alluring bouquet.
On the palate, concentrated fruit flavors and an overwhelming minerality unfold, leading to a long finish that combines power and elegance. This wine truly expresses the depth of ancient vines and the unique character of its terroir.
It pairs exceptionally well with aromatic dishes such as risotto or ravioli with truffles. It also harmonizes beautifully with savory dishes like pan-fried fish with butter, pork, and chicken.
Hand-picked grapes are carefully transported in 10kg boxes and sorted again upon arrival at the winery. The whole bunches undergo 24 hours of cold maceration to maximize the fruit's aromas.
Following gentle pressing, fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 6 months on fine lees with bâtonnage, followed by a minimum of 3 months of bottle aging. This meticulous winemaking process results in a wine that is both delicate and complex.
Le Thadee is an Umbrian winery established in 2018 by the Natali family, who have been grape growers for generations. They acquired excellent vineyards previously owned by a renowned Montefalco producer and now handle everything from cultivation to winemaking and bottling.
The vineyards are home to pre-phylloxera Trebbiano Spoletino ancient vines that have survived since before the phylloxera epidemic of the late 19th century. These vines are over 128 years old, and a highly rare traditional training system using elm trees is still practiced today.
Utilizing the excellent terroir of Spoleto, surrounded by lush mountains, the winery produces extremely high-quality wines in small quantities. This "+128+" is a special bottle that encapsulates the history and unique character of the land.
