Tasting Notes

This is a powerful yet elegant red wine made from 100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a native black grape variety representative of Friuli.

It offers rich aromas of raspberry, blackberry, and black fig, layered with nuances of violet, herbs, and cocoa. The bouquet is complex and profound, revealing various expressions over time in the glass.

While possessing a firm structure and concentration, it is well-balanced by natural acidity and minerality, leading to a long-lasting finish. The beautiful purplish ruby color is also impressive.

Pairing

It pairs exceptionally well with meat dishes such as sirloin steak, T-bone steak, and roast beef.

It also creates wonderful pairings with game dishes like venison and wild boar, as well as aged hard cheeses. The rich fruitiness and structure beautifully complement intensely flavorful dishes.

About the Winemaking

The grapes are hand-picked and re-sorted at the winery. Only natural yeasts are used for spontaneous fermentation, bringing out the wine's inherent characteristics.

During fermentation, maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks to carefully extract fruitiness, color, and tannins. Afterwards, malolactic fermentation occurs in concrete egg-shaped tanks, followed by 12 months of aging.

Through natural winemaking and extended aging, the inherent power and delicacy of Refosco are wonderfully expressed.
